Location
The reserve is located on the eastern slopes of the Andes, close to the main highway that leads to the Amazon Jungle, and connects the lively tourist town of Banos de Agua Santa (15 min. drive from Rio Verde) to the city of Puyo, the gateway to the Ecuadorian Amazon Jungle (45 min drive from Rio Verde).
Access to the reserve is only possible by foot, via a mile long path through magnificent scenery that begins in the village of Rio Verde, which is named for the river flowing through it.
Altitude: 1,400 to 1,700 meters above sea level (cloud forest)
How to get to "El otro lado"?
From Banos take a bus (40 cents) or a taxi (8$) to the village of Rio Verde.
If you have a car, your car can be parked and watched in Rio Verde.
Take the trail down to the famous waterfall "Pailon del Diablo", cross the suspension bridge and welcome to "El Otro Lado".
